VERO BEACH — Part of a custom cabinetry business was destroyed early Saturday when a fire struck the building the company is housed in, an Indian River County Fire Rescue official said.

There were no injuries, but fire rescue workers did have to rescue a cat, Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said.

Crews about midnight went to The Cabinetree Collection, in the 800 block of 35th Court Southwest just outside Vero Beach, and found heavy smoke showing out of portions of the business, which is in a metal building with another business, Kofke said.

A variety of wood, laquer, cabinetry, stains and other items were inside the business, situated north of Oslo Road. Kofke said the fire was under control in about an hour, with fire crews leaving about 5 a.m.

He said the building is salvageable, but a portion of The Cabinetree Collection was destroyed.

The cause is under investigation, though it does not appear suspicious, Kofke said.
