Stark Minority Business teaches entrepreneurship to Crenshaw students

CANTON – A dozen Crenshaw Center College eighth grade students are having classes in entrepreneurship.

The program’s objective is to get pupils excited about the prospect of beginning a business, said Leonard Stevens, chief govt officer of the Minority Small business Association.

As the 2nd session started out on Tuesday, the students acquired instruments — Google Chromebooks and a backpack — to help them in the software. The laptops are courtesy Spectrum and Charter Communications, a husband or wife in the plan.

Crenshaw learners embrace the Stark County Minority Small business Association effort

This is the 1st year for the Youth Entrepreneur Method, but Stevens wants to see it expanded upcoming year. He hopes that instructing learners about entrepreneurship may well show them choices to higher education.  

The Crenshaw college students utilized for the software right after listening to a presentation from the Stark County Minority Small business Affiliation. Candidates ended up reviewed by a choice committee.

Stevens stated the affiliation, which formed in 2018, put in two a long time developing the Youth Entrepreneur Program. Brenda Stevens — Leonard’s spouse and an educator retired from Malone University — created the curriculum.

“We want to get they thinking about the neighborhood and wondering about the challenges that they want to fix,” Brenda Stevens stated.
